Millennial Voter Issues Comparison Sheet

Vote for Democrats November 6th!

Millennials, Republicans are taking away your rights! If you care about Democracy, the planet, your women (sisters, girlfriends, wives, mothers, grandmothers) you’ll vote for Democrats! Here’s a quick overview of a few issues you might care about.

Like Sex?

Republicans say NO to birth control and NO to a woman’s right to control her own body.

Democrats say YES to birth control and YES to women’s rights. Her body; her choice.

Have a School Loan?

Trump and Republicans are cutting $200 billion from student loan programs. And NO loan forgiveness!

Democrats want FREE 2 yr college for ALL. More loan assistance. Your education is our future!

Smoke Weed?!

Republicans are keeping weed ILLEGAL and pushing for longer jail sentences. Publishing ONLY negative info.

Democrats support LEGALIZING weed. Support a State’s right to legalize and profitize. (I made that word up.)

Support our National Parks?

Trump and Republicans have leased 1-million acres of Bears Ears National Park in Utah to drillers and frackers. Immediately raised Park fees.

Democrats honor and preserve our National Parks and Native American lands.

Wildlife/Climate Change

Trump and Republicans are removing protections from all endangered species. DO NOT BELIEVE CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL!

Democrats are protecting both animals and the planet. BELIEVE CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL. Democrats support solar and wind energy.

LGBTQ Rights

Republicans are rolling back protections and rights based on sexual orientation. Seriously! WHY DO REPUBLICANS CARE SO MUCH ABOUT WHO’S SLEEPING WITH WHO?!

Democrats believe ALL PEOPLE ARE EQUAL. Seriously! How is that concept NOT a part of Republican DNA?

Immigrants in CAGES!

Trump and Republicans have 13,000 brown-skinned kids in CAGES just because they weren’t born in the US! 2000 of them were ripped from their parents inhumanely. Trump is building MORE FOR-PROFIT prisons.

Democrats want DACA kids to become citizens, and revise immigration laws. THERE ARE NO ILLEGAL PEOPLE!

These are just a few of the issues that will affect us all. Please, do the homework, learn the issues—AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THE PLANET, AND ALL HUMANITY—VOTE in the Mid-terms November 6th.

How to Talk Politics: Be Kind

kind heart kind words kind thoughts
Kind hearts, kind words, kind thoughts

“I don’t want to hear your political views,” she said. And that’s the problem, I thought. No one wants to talk politics and hear someone else’s political views. But … that’s not true. I was very interested in hearing what she thought, but she didn’t share.

Maybe she talks politics on Facebook, maybe not. She certainly didn’t want to discuss it face-to-face. Maybe Facebook provides an opportunity to join the conversation but with a bit of cover, although Facebook friends can be just as brutal as the Twitter trolls.

I’m not sure, but she didn’t want to discuss politics in person. Few people do because there are BIG ISSUES at stake: women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, black lives rights, Veteran’s rights, environmental rights, and the list goes on and on.

ISSUES that bring out the best and the worst of us. Both sides, Democrats and Republicans, are pointing their fingers and blaming the other, but America and the world have problems that need to be discussed and solved. The only way that happens is if we have a conversation. At some point we need to start talking and HEARING each other. And we need to start talking face-to-face.

It’s risky, I know. Feelings can get hurt, so remember these words from SoulSeeds:

Being rude is easy. It does not take any effort and is a sign of weakness and insecurity. Kindness shows great self-discipline and strong self-esteem. Being kind is not always easy when dealing with rude people. Kindness is the sign of a person who has done a lot of personal work and has come to a great self-understanding and wisdom. Choose to be kind over being right, and you’ll be right every time because kindness is a sign of strength.

And now repeat after me, “What do you think about __(insert your issue here)__?”

Let the conversation begin. And remember, kind words.
